On January 11, 2009, after the Sunday Service, we will have a
FELLOWSHIP FORUM on UU PEACEMAKING
Two years in the making, we now have the Draft UU Statement of Conscience on Peacemaking, and the Peacemaking Caucus needs your input. To get ready for the Forum on January 11, we invite you to participate online now.
But first, if you do not already have a copy of the Draft Statement on Peacemaking, please open the attached Draft SOC on Peacemaking and download it. You may want to print out the entire document. We ask that you read the Draft and respond to any or all of the four questions below (or give us any other comment you'd like to make).
You can give us your comments and suggestions by using one of these two methods:
1. You may do so online. Simply click forward for this email message and then write your comments for each question. (You should be able to write within the message to be forwarded.) Then send this forwarded message to richardkopp@mac.com.
2. Or you can print out the comments part of this email, write your comments on the paper and turn them in at the Peacemaking Table on Sundays. And you can bring a copy to the Forum on the 11th.
You may also send us your thoughts after the Forum until January 14. After that date, we will send our comments to change and strengthen the Statement where we feel it is needed. The UUA's Commission on Social Witness will revise the Draft, and Delegates at General Assembly will vote in June, and if adopted, we will have a new Statement of Conscience on Peacemaking for the denomination.
We would like to hear from you. Take as much space as you need to respond to any or all of the questions below. Please feel free so speak with any member of the Peacemaking Caucus. And thank you for your participation.
