Our Interim Minister

The Reverend Nancy O. Arnold

When something changes in our lives – such as the retirement of a minister – a time of reorientation is usually required. An interim ministry is intended to guide a congregation through that transition time.

You may feel as if the ground is shifting under your feet, leaving you uncertain of what is to come next following Rev. Paul’s retirement. This can be an emotional time in the life of a congregation which is why the UUA recommends hiring an interim minister.

The period between settled ministers offers the opportunity to process what is occurring in the life of the congregation. It is a time to step back and assess the ministry by reviewing goals and evaluating programs in order to prepare for a new era in the life of the Fellowship.

In our time together we will reflect on the past, identify current strengths and challenges, and determine where you want to go from here. It will also be a time of added change as we adjust to each others’ styles of ministry and learn to work and play well together.

In my limited interactions with the Fellowship thus far I am quite impressed with the ways in which you are present for and caring of each other. These are gifts that cannot be taught. I feel very fortunate to be serving as your Interim Minister. Thank you for that trust.

I look forward to walking with you during this transition time.

Yours in faith,
Nancy

In our Fellowship you will find:

  • Spiritual seekers.  Some are at the beginning, tasting a variety of practices and teaching in order to find the way that touches them; others have found a path that guides them to deeper wisdom and compassion.  All prize sharing and learning from each other.
  • Commitment to service and social justice.  We live our values by helping others and working toward a world that is more just and peaceful.
  • Life-long learning.  Religious exploration is not just for kids!  We are all learning for as long as we live.  We are a curious people, excited to learn and to share what we have experienced.
  • A caring community.  Some describe our congregation as their “chosen family” because we care for one another.  We extend our compassion both inside and outside of our walls.
  • People who enjoy one another.  Laughter is never far away – the kind of laughter that comes from enjoying the whimsy of life.
  • A welcome for who you are and what you bring.
