The Welcoming Conversation workshop on June 2, from noon to 2 pm follows the 10:30 am service titled “SPORK and Friends,” during which guest speaker CB Beal, M.Div., and Rev. Jude will explore and celebrate Beloved Community, gender, inclusion and justice.  In this workshop, co-sponsored by the Committee on Ministry (COM) and Social Justice Ministry, we will explore gender diversity and our collective responsibility to host a radical welcome for trans* people (transgender, non-binary, gender nonconforming). This conversation, part five of the Welcoming Conversation series COM began in September, is for anyone who wants to learn more about gender diversity and support people whose gender is not what our society has taught us to typically expect. Participants should be willing to explore the ways their own experience of gender isn’t the only experience of gender. CB will create a space for both trans* and cisgender people and invite both curiosity and witness. (Note: The workshop is open to youth in eighth grade and up.) We will hold space to explore gender and gender identity in new ways so that we can better be the beloved community, a community of justice, equity and love. Grab some lunch being sold by our Sophia Fahs Camp families in the social hall after the service, then join us in the main hall. Any questions? Contact Liza Burby at – Click to download flyer
