Choosing a congregation is a strange and hopeful thing to do. So is bringing a child before one and asking a community to help surround a life with love. This Sunday we will dedicate a child and celebrate new members. One ritual reminds us that belonging begins before belief. The other reminds us that belonging becomes real when people choose it, practice it, and help carry it forward.
